Paddle Battle Pickleball Tournament Unites Community, Scores Big for Kids’ Programs

Paddle Battle Pickleball Tournament Unites Community: The first annual Paddle Battle pickleball tournament ended Sunday at Phoebe Bakken Memorial Park in Cottage Grove. Forty teams played to raise money for the Wisconsin Youth Company’s after-school and summer camp programs. The event helped support working parents by funding important child care services.

A Weekend of Pickleball for a Cause

The Paddle Battle brought pickleball players together for a fun weekend of games and friendly competition. The tournament was held to raise money and awareness for the Wisconsin Youth Company, which offers programs that keep kids safe and active after school and during summer breaks.

Rebecca Carlin, CEO of Wisconsin Youth Company, said the event was not just fun but also educational. “People are having a good time and being outside and active, but also reaching a new audience,” she said. The fundraiser helped spread the word about how important these child care programs are.

Supporting Families and Growing the Event

Carlin explained how after-school and summer camp programs give peace of mind to many working parents. “We know that we have seen better outcomes for kids with after-school programs,” she said. These programs are a vital part of the community.

The Wisconsin Youth Company already looks forward to making the tournament bigger next year. “We’re excited to grow it, to have folks who participated this year tell their pickleball buddies and make it bigger next year,” Carlin added. The goal is to keep these programs strong and help more families.
