New Indoor Pickleball Hub Set to Energize St. Johns County—Will This Be the Next Pickleball Hotspot?

St. Johns County’s Indoor Pickleball Court: An indoor pickleball center is planned for Rolling Hills Industrial Park at 6480 U.S. 1 in St. Johns County. The project will be reviewed by the county’s Development Review Committee on June 6. The site is just south of Palencia and north of the former Kings Head Pub, which is being turned into the Wobbly Whale Public House.

The proposed facility will include a 7,000-square-foot building and 29 parking spots. A nearby stormwater pond will be rebuilt to meet current building rules. This change is part of the design to meet local development needs.

Property and Site Details

The location for the pickleball center is a 1.93-acre property that already has three warehouse buildings. The property is owned by Mueller International Property Agents Corp. of St. Petersburg. The ownership is managed through a group called 2685 Rolling Hills LLC.

Jacksonville-based Baker Design Group is in charge of the site’s civil engineering plans. These include the layout of the parking area, building placement, and stormwater changes.

Pickleball Growth in the Area

There are already 12 known pickleball locations in St. Johns County, according to GlobalPickleball.Network. The nearest site to the new project is about 3 miles away at 625 Palencia Club Drive.

The new indoor facility would add to the growing number of places where locals can enjoy pickleball year-round. This growth reflects the rising popularity of the sport in the area.

What Comes Next

The Development Review Committee of St. Johns County is expected to discuss the project on June 6. If approved, the new center could soon provide more indoor space for pickleball fans in the region.

The site is expected to help meet demand for indoor courts and may encourage more players to join the sport.
