Atlanta to Unveil Nation’s Largest Indoor Pickleball Hub—A Game-Changer for Local Sports Fans

Atlanta to Unveil Nation’s Largest Indoor Pickleball Hub: Metro Atlanta is about to get the biggest indoor pickleball facility in the United States. The Pickleball Club of Georgia is turning a 1960s warehouse at 1365 English Street in Blandtown into a huge pickleball center. The facility will cover more than 100,000 square feet and include over 30 courts. It will also have a full gym, golf simulators, event spaces, and a full kitchen and bar. The project is expected to be ready by the holidays this year.

Plans and Progress on the Project

The warehouse is near the Beltline’s future Northwest Trail and close to Atlantic Station. Architects from Terminus Design Group said their design has already passed the Atlanta Beltline Design Review Committee. Now, they are waiting for permits to begin demolition and construction. Moeller Purcell Construction Company will manage the building work.

Neil Waddle, principal of Terminus Design Group, said, Our client is hopeful to be operational by the holidays this year. The five to six-month building [process] seems doable.”

A Hub for Pickleball Fans and Players

Michael Shamus, the project’s owner and a tech consultant, has been searching for the right site for over a year. He is also captain of his ALTA Pickleball team.

The warehouse once stored law enforcement and ballot equipment. Shamus told Business Debut the facility will be the home court for Georgia Tech’s pickleball club. It will offer memberships, walk-in play, leagues, summer camps, clinics, and after-school programs.

This facility is designed to be a full-day destination for pickleball fans, unlike other smaller facilities nearby like Dill Dinkers and Painted Pickle. It shows how much pickleball has grown in Atlanta and will give players a top place to play all year round.
