Petaluma Opens New Pickleball Courts With Festive Open House—Here’s What Awaits the Players

Petaluma’s Pickleball Court Grand Opening: The City of Petaluma is inviting residents to an open house on Friday, May 23, from 4 to 6 p.m. to celebrate the new pickleball courts at the Petaluma Fairgrounds. The event will be held inside the Bianchi Barn and will feature live music, food, and open play for all.

Celebrating a New Community Space

The open house is open to everyone, including new and experienced pickleball players. Attendees will have the chance to meet local city leaders, community groups, and the founders of Petaluma Fairgrounds Pickleball, a non-profit group that helped bring the new courts to life.

In addition to pickleball, people can tour the Bianchi Barn and learn about other activities held there, such as Ballet Folklorico and Live Oak’s dance classes.

Part of a Bigger Plan for Recreation

In its April 29 bulletin, the City of Petaluma announced the courts and a new pickleball pilot program. City leaders made it clear that the courts are a temporary setup for now.

“These courts are perfect for casual, community play, and can be taken down quickly to support big events like the annual fair.” – (City leaders)

The courts are now open daily for recreational play from dawn to dusk. They will be removed for the Petaluma Fair but will return once the fair ends.

Bringing the Community Together

This event shows how the city is using its space to support fun and active lifestyles. By working with local groups like Petaluma Fairgrounds Pickleball, the city hopes to grow interest in the sport while planning long-term solutions for community recreation.
