Atlanta’s New Pickleball Club: A new indoor pickleball project planned for Midtown Atlanta may soon beat Macon’s Rhythm & Rally for the title of largest pickleball complex in the U.S. in terms of court count. The planned Pickleball Club of Georgia will include 34 courts—two more than Macon’s 32—inside a redesigned warehouse.
Plans for Atlanta’s Pickleball Club
The new facility is being designed by Terminus Design Group and will have over 100,000 square feet of space. Architect Neil Waddle said the complex is claiming the title of America’s largest pickleball facility based on the number of courts.
In addition to the courts, the space will include private event rooms, a golf simulator, a gym, locker rooms, and a full-service kitchen and bar. While it will lead in court count, it will still be smaller in total size than Macon’s Rhythm & Rally, which has 166,000 square feet.
Construction Progress in Midtown
Terminus Design Group posted the project details on Instagram, stating the plan has already passed the Atlanta Beltline Design Review Committee. The team is now waiting for permits to begin demolition and construction. According to the post, they hope to start work this fall.
Macon Officials Not Worried
Chris Floore, the chief communications officer for Macon-Bibb County, said officials are not concerned about the new facility in Atlanta.
“It has consistently drawn players and fans not just because of its court count, but because of the culture and care they’ve cultivated here in Macon.” Chris Floore said in an email to The Telegraph.
“People come to Rhythm & Rally for high-level play, yes, but also for the atmosphere, the hospitality, and the unique charm of our venue.” – (Chris Floore)
Chris Floore also said that Rhythm & Rally has plans to grow. It hopes to add food and drink services to attract year-round visitors for camps, corporate events, receptions, and reunions.
What This Could Mean for Georgia Pickleball
Rhythm & Rally opened in January 2024 as part of a project to improve the Macon Mall. It quickly became a hotspot for players and major tournaments.
If the Atlanta complex opens as planned, it could shift attention, especially with its central location and added features. Still, Macon leaders believe their venue’s size, charm, and community feel will help it stay on top, even with the new competition.
News in Brief: Atlanta’s New Pickleball Club
Atlanta’s Pickleball Club of Georgia may soon top Macon’s Rhythm & Rally in court count, offering 34 indoor courts in a new Midtown facility. Macon officials say they aren’t worried, noting their venue’s size, charm, and community support. Construction in Atlanta is expected to begin this fall.
