Fort Marcy Park Doubles Pickleball Courts in 1.2M Dollar Upgrade—Santa Fe Pickleball Players Celebrate Grand Opening

Fort Marcy Park Doubles Pickleball Courts: Pickleball players in Santa Fe gathered Wednesday afternoon, May 22, to celebrate the grand opening of six new pickleball courts at Fort Marcy Park. The city held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the $1.2 million project, which brings the total number of courts at the park from six to 12.

Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony and Busy Courts

The event took place under sunny skies as players filled nearly every court. The sound of pickleballs echoed through the park during the celebration. The new courts were finished on May 2, just ahead of the annual “Dinko De Mayo” tournament hosted by the Santa Fe Pickleball Club.

The project broke ground in November and was completed in less than six months. The timing allowed over 220 players to enjoy the new space during the popular tournament.

More Space for a Growing Sport

Pickleball continues to grow in Santa Fe and around the country. The additional courts help meet the rising demand from players of all ages. With double the number of courts now available, more games can happen at once, reducing wait times and allowing for larger events.
