Nitro Unveils State’s Largest Indoor Pickleball Complex Just in Time for Major Tournament

Nitro Unveils State’s Largest Indoor Pickleball Complex: A brand-new indoor pickleball complex is opening this week in Nitro, West Virginia. The courts will be ready just in time for the Metro 911 Pickleball Tournament, the largest tournament of its kind in the state. The event begins this weekend at the Nitro Athletic Complex.

The Nitro Athletic Complex features 17 courts, including nine that are now covered for all-weather play. These indoor courts will host matches during the tournament. The tournament includes singles and doubles play, with a total prize pool of $20,000 up for grabs.

Covered Courts for Growing Demand

The indoor section of the complex was completed just ahead of the tournament, providing much-needed space for players. Free open play is scheduled from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, offering the public a chance to try the sport. Pro singles matches will begin at noon the same day.

The facility is expected to serve both local players and visiting athletes, offering more comfort and protection from the weather during tournaments and casual play alike.

Boost for Local Businesses and Youth

Nitro Mayor Dave Casebolt shared his excitement about the impact of the new complex and tournament on the community. “Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in America,” Nitro Mayor Dave Casebolt said.

“We rolled the dice, the state rolled the dice with us. It’ll be a great tourist attraction for Nitro. I’m seeing many kids playing the game now.” – (Dave Casebolt)

City officials say the tournament has already helped increase foot traffic to local stores and restaurants, bringing more attention to Nitro as a growing sports hub.
