Texas Pickle Hall Opens Eco-Friendly Indoor Pickleball Hubs to Beat the Texas Heat

Texas Pickle Hall, a veteran-owned company, will open two new indoor pickleball facilities in San Antonio by the end of 2025. The first will launch in late June in Live Oak, featuring 12 climate-controlled courts built to high energy-saving standards. A larger second location will open later in Southtown, including event space for tournaments. The centers aim to provide year-round play while reducing energy costs and environmental impact in hot Texas.

Growing Demand Meets Green Design

Texas Pickle Hall’s Live Oak facility at 201 Shin Oak Drive covers 30,000 square feet and follows the International Passive House Institute’s strict rules for energy efficiency.

This design cuts down heating and cooling costs—important in Texas, where air conditioning use is heavy and can strain the power grid. Besides courts, the venue includes an outdoor space inspired by Texas’s famous ice houses.

The second site, opening later in Southtown, will be even bigger with 36,000 square feet. It will also have 8,000 square feet of flexible event space ideal for hosting pickleball tournaments and leagues. While members get booking priority, anyone can visit and play.

Pickleball’s Rise and Texas Pickle Hall’s Role

Pickleball has risen in popularity nationwide, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic when people looked for easy, social sports. Once mainly played by retirees, pickleball now has over a million players across the U.S. Texas has embraced the sport strongly, with cities like Austin becoming major pickleball hubs. Houston has announced several new large pickleball venues too.

Texas Pickle Hall aims to stand out by focusing on environmentally friendly facilities that support growing player numbers. Zander Komet, Chief Operating Officer of Texas Pickle Hall and a Navy veteran, said,

“As a Navy veteran, I’ve seen firsthand how strong communities are built on shared experiences and forward-thinking leadership. Texas Pickle Hall is my way of giving back: building places where people can compete, connect, and create a better tomorrow together.” – (Zander Komet)

Membership and Hours

Memberships cost between $797 and $899 per year, with discounts for students. The Live Oak location is open daily from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. and offers spaces for private events and corporate gatherings.

What This Means for San Antonio

These new centers will let players enjoy pickleball indoors all year, avoiding the intense Texas heat. They will also help reduce energy use with smart building design. This is an important step for a sport growing fast in Texas and the U.S. The venues will provide more places for players to meet, compete, and have fun in a comfortable and eco-friendly setting.
