Long Valley’s Summer Pickleball Lessons: The Washington Township Recreation Department is starting summer pickleball lessons for adults in Long Valley. The pickleball sessions will run from July 10 to August 14, 2025, at the Rock Spring Park Tennis Courts. Lessons are open to all experience levels and are held in partnership with TJD Sports Academy.
Pickleball is becoming more popular across the country. Local officials hope to bring that excitement to Long Valley through professional coaching and open play with friends and neighbors.
Lessons for All Levels
Beginner and advanced beginner players can join to learn the basics, improve their game, and build confidence. Each session lasts one hour and is offered twice a week.
On Thursdays, the lessons are scheduled from July 10 to August 14, either from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. or 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. If there is rain, the makeup date will be August 21.
On Saturdays, the program runs from July 12 to August 9, with sessions from 9 to 10 a.m. or 10 to 11 a.m. The rain date for these sessions is August 16.
Extra Training for Experienced Players
Players with more experience can attend “Play with a Pro” sessions. These are designed to improve playing strategies with help from expert coaches during guided open play.
How to Register and What It Costs
The five-week program costs $165 per person. All payments are non-refundable. The deadline to register is July 8, 2025. Those who sign up after that date will have to pay an extra $25.
Why This Matters
Pickleball is growing quickly and now has a place in Long Valley. These summer programs offer a way for people to stay active, learn something new, and meet others. The Recreation Department’s work with TJD Sports Academy may lead to more events like this in the future.
