Zanesville’s Pickleball 4 Paws Tournament Unites Community to Rescue Shelter Pets

Dozens of local athletes gathered at Riverside Park in Zanesville on Saturday to take part in the second annual Pickleball 4 Paws tournament. The event raised money to support the Animal Shelter Society. Teams competed in men’s, women’s, and co-ed divisions, with all entry fees going to help shelter pets.

The Tournament and Its Purpose

The tournament featured round robin play, and each team paid a $100 entry fee. Adam Agin, the event director, explained that the fundraiser is vital for the animal shelter’s operations. He shared how April She, the Executive Director of the shelter, asked him to run the event because of his involvement in pickleball.

Supporting the Shelter Beyond the Game

Adam Agin encouraged everyone not only to play pickleball but also to support the shelter in other ways.

“Pickleball, it’s a fun game, get out there, try it,” (Adam Agin).

He added that the shelter needs more than just adopters.

“Donate your time if you have that, if you have money maybe donate that, or they’re always in need of supplies,” (Adam Agin).

He stressed that every little bit helps and is appreciated.

Looking Ahead to Next Year

Organizers plan to hold the Pickleball 4 Paws tournament again next year. Everyone, whether a beginner or experienced player, is invited to participate and support a good cause.

The event not only raised funds but also helped bring the community together to support shelter pets and raise awareness of the shelter’s needs.
