DinkBIG for ThinkBIG Pickleball Tournament Serves Up Hope for Local Families Battling Pediatric Cancer

Nearly 50 players gathered on Sunday morning at Brown Avenue Park in Milton for the third annual DinkBIG for ThinkBIG Pickleball Tournament. The pickleball event raised $3,600 to help local families facing the challenges of pediatric cancer by supporting ThinkBIG, an organization that assists with living costs and medical bills.

Community Comes Together for a Cause

The pickleball tournament brought together 48 pickleball players from Northumberland County who aimed to make a difference. The event focused on raising money to ease the financial struggles families face while caring for children with cancer. Diane Dutko, Executive Director of ThinkBIG, highlighted the importance of community support.

“Every little bit helps, and a tournament like this, you know, think about it in terms of a family; It’s a rent payment, it’s a car payment, it’s fuel, but it’s also a hug for them, that the community came together, and they showed that they cared.” – (Diane Dutko)

Positive Impact Beyond the Court

The fundraiser not only gathered donations but also offered emotional support to families in need. ThinkBIG uses the funds to help cover daily expenses and unpaid medical bills, providing families with relief during difficult times.

This event’s success shows the power of local communities coming together to help those affected by pediatric cancer. It also sets a hopeful example for future fundraisers in Northumberland County and beyond.
