DiNK’D Pickleball Community Partnership: Augusta Athletics has partnered with DiNK’D Pickleball, the only indoor pickleball facility in the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA), to encourage healthier lifestyles and build stronger ties between Augusta University and the local community.
The partnership aims to increase shared events, programs, and use of DiNK’D’s indoor space, helping the university reach more people beyond its campus. Although pickleball is not a varsity sport at Augusta University, this move helps expand the athletic department’s influence across the region.
A Focus on Community and Growth
The collaboration reflects Augusta Athletics’ mission to support student-athletes and connect with the larger CSRA area. Through this new relationship, both organizations hope to create more opportunities for people to play pickleball, attend events, and enjoy a healthy, active lifestyle. Troy Akers, Owner and Founder of DiNK’D Pickleball, said,
“This partnership with Augusta University is a bold step toward the future of pickleball both at the University and in the surrounding area. It’s about visionary leadership—seeing beyond the court to how the sport can shape culture, community and opportunity. Together, we’re not just growing the game—we’re partnering to build a movement that inspires innovation, inclusivity, and the next generation of champions.” – (Troy Akers)
Positive Feedback From Both Sides
Augusta University’s Director of Athletics, Ryan Erlacher, spoke highly of the partnership and DiNK’D’s team, saying,
“We are thrilled to partner with DiNK’D Pickleball. Our interactions with DiNK’D have been tremendously positive and they offer an excellent product and service. Their leadership team is first class, and we certainly appreciate their enthusiastic support of the JAGS. We look forward to growing this partnership and excited to align our department with their organization.” – (Ryan Erlacher)
The athletic department continues to seek out partnerships that support students while also benefiting the local population.
More Than Just a Facility
DiNK’D Pickleball is not only a playing space—it’s a full-service venue that offers food, a bar, and event hosting. Whether someone is just starting or already an expert, the facility welcomes players of all levels.
Looking Ahead
This new partnership is expected to inspire more community events and make pickleball even more popular in the CSRA. Both groups are planning ways to grow interest in the sport and make their spaces more welcoming and fun for everyone.
