Fred Brown Memorial Park Pickleball Courts: New pickleball courts are being built at Fred Brown Memorial Park on Triangle Lake Road in Marion Township. The courts are expected to be ready by late August or early September. This project was made possible through a resident’s donation and support from the Marion Township Board of Trustees.
Clerk Tammy Beal said the idea began last fall when a resident offered to donate money for a recreational project. Beal suggested building pickleball courts because of their growing popularity and high demand. Estimates were gathered, and the proposal to build four courts—two funded by the resident and two by the township—was approved.
Plans and Design
The courts will be set up side by side. A four-foot fence will separate the courts, and a 10-foot fence will surround the entire area. There will be three gates to allow access to the courts.
Tammy Beal said that, for now, no benches will be added, but there are future plans. The courts will be open daily from dawn to dusk.
Looking Ahead
As the project continues to move forward, Beal said they are aiming for the courts to be completed by the end of summer. The addition of the courts will offer a new place for residents to play one of the fastest-growing sports in the country. It reflects the community’s support for outdoor activities and healthy living.
