Central Pennsylvania’s Pickleball Courts Busy After Rain Ends

Central Pennsylvania’s Pickleball Courts: Sunny summer weather has brought many residents in Central Pennsylvania outdoors, especially to James E. Short Park in Loyalsock Township, Lycoming County. After weeks of cold and rain, pickleball players of all ages are eager to enjoy the dry courts and fresh air.

Locals Enjoy the Sunshine and Exercise

Brenda King from Montgomery shared how the break in the weather has been a welcome change. “Finally great out, I work close by, and on my lunch hour I like to take a nice walk over here at the park, get a little exercise and just enjoy the weather when it’s nice since it’s not raining anymore,” King said.

Pickleball players like Seyla Gallagher from Williamsport are especially happy to return outside. “I’m definitely sick of the cold weather so I’m glad it’s nice and bright and we can get outside and enjoy the fresh air and the summer,” Gallagher said.

Dedication to Pickleball Regardless of Weather

Rita Marzzacco, who lives near Williamsport, loves pickleball so much she sometimes plays twice a day. “Fortunately we have a lot of places we can play inside so when it’s raining we just go some other places if not we wait for the weather to be conducive to play here,” Marzzacco said.

Local player Vito Sylvester emphasized how perfect the weather was for playing outdoors. “We are really happy that it finally stopped raining, the courts are dry, it’s not too windy today, so it couldn’t be more perfect to play pickle ball,” Sylvester said.

He also noted the growing popularity of the sport in the area. “This place is boppin’ at 9 o’clock at night, there’s not one court empty, the kids are here, and they’ll even play in the rain, but it’s much better to play when the courts are dry,” he added.
