Easton’s Glow-in-the-Dark Pickleball Night Shines Light on Cancer Care With Fun, Games, and Giving

A glow-in-the-dark pickleball night event is set to light up Easton, Massachusetts, on June 20, all in support of cancer research. Organized by Pat McDougal and her team Trustees Trekkers, the fundraiser will benefit the Jimmy Fund Walk and honor loved ones lost to cancer.

Community Rally for a Cause

Pat McDougal has turned her passion for helping others into action. Inspired by personal loss, McDougal joined the Jimmy Fund Walk in 2015 in memory of her father, mother-in-law, and close friend Arleen. After Arleen’s passing, she created a team in her name and has continued to expand her efforts since.

Pickleball Meets Purpose

This year’s creative fundraiser will take place at LTP Pickleball in Easton. The June 20 pickleball event promises fun activities like glow-in-the-dark round robin pickleball games, golf simulator competitions, live music, and a silent auction. Auction items include Red Sox tickets and a San Francisco getaway, offering participants a variety of ways to support the cause.

Hiking Roots Spark New Fundraising Drive

During the pandemic, McDougal found comfort in hiking at the Trustees Parks in Hingham. This shared hobby with Arleen inspired her to form a new team, Trustees Trekkers, in 2022. Since then, the team has raised over $19,000 through innovative and engaging events like this glow pickleball night.

Lasting Impact and Future Goals

McDougal’s efforts continue to grow, driven by her dedication to cancer care and the memories of those she honors. The upcoming Easton event highlights how personal passions—like hiking and pickleball—can become powerful tools for change. With community support, the Trustees Trekkers hope to raise even more for cancer treatment and research.
