Ron Mead Park Swaps Tennis for Pickleball in Exciting Recreation Upgrade

Ron Mead Park Swaps Tennis for Pickleball: Residents will soon have new recreational options as Ron Mead Park prepares to convert one of its two aging tennis courts into two pickleball courts, bringing the fast-growing sport to the community. The courts are located within Ron Mead Park in the town of Florida.

Repurposing Old Courts for New Play

The decision to make the conversion comes as part of an effort to make better use of existing park resources. Town Clerk Emily Staley said on May 28, “We just thought it would kind of be nice to not only just have pickleball, but also to be able to reuse the tennis courts.”

The remaining tennis court will stay as-is, providing options for both tennis and pickleball players at the park.

Growing Interest in Pickleball

Pickleball continues to grow rapidly across the U.S., and the town’s move reflects broader trends in adapting underused sports facilities for more popular activities. The renovated court will give local residents of all ages the opportunity to try the sport in a familiar, convenient setting.
