Pickleball and Dining in Pella: When Smash Park closed in January 2024, Pella lost both a restaurant and an entertainment spot. Orchestrate Hospitality, known for restaurants like Centro, Bubba, and Django in Des Moines, kept the pickleball courts open. Now, they have launched West Side Social to fill the gap with food, drinks, and plenty of activities.
Paul Rottenberg, President of Orchestrate Hospitality, called West Side Social “Pella’s entertainment headquarters” in a recent news release. The venue’s main building covers 21,000 square feet, with an extra 10,000 square feet patio.
Inside, the dining room seats 78 guests, and the bar holds 18 more. Private and semi-private rooms can host up to 100 people. The space includes 70 televisions showing live sports games.
Facilities and Entertainment Options
West Side Social offers more than just food and drinks. It has four indoor pickleball courts available for play and private rental from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. Players can also enjoy two golf simulators and two electronic darts lounges. Other games include shuffleboard and bocce ball courts and an arcade. Seasonal outdoor gathering spaces are also available for visitors.
Hours of Operation
The venue is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. These hours allow for a range of activities throughout the week and late into the weekend.
Impact on Pella’s Community and Future
West Side Social adds a new entertainment and dining destination to Pella. It supports the community by keeping pickleball courts available and providing diverse recreation options. The venue joins Orchestrate Hospitality’s other Pella businesses, Liberty Street Kitchen and Main Street Markt, helping to grow the local food and entertainment scene.
