Serving for Shelter Pickleball Tournament Returns to Support Habitat for Humanity

The second annual Serving for Shelter Pickleball Tournament will take place this Saturday, June 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Honey Bowen courts in Statesboro. The pickleball event raises funds to support Habitat for Humanity of Bulloch County’s mission to build homes for local families.

Pickleball for a Cause

The tournament is more than just a fun day on the courts. All proceeds will help construct six new homes for low-income families in the Statesboro community.

“This event is going to be even better than last year!” said Dr. Kristina Patterson, Member of Habitat for Humanity of Bulloch County Board of Directors.

“With the help of Bob Massee (Statesboro High Head Volleyball Coach and pickleball aficionado) and great feedback from last year’s players, this year we have even more teams registered and three player brackets. We’re so grateful for our generous sponsors and players. With their support we can work to ensure that more families in Bulloch County have a safe, decent, affordable place to live.” – (Kristina Patterson)

Community Sponsors Step In

Local businesses are helping to make the event a success. Davis Heating & Air is the presenting sponsor. Court sponsors include Anders CPAs, Bulloch Solutions, Hall & Navarro, LLC, and Southern Company.

Additional sponsors for registration, water, cooling, and first aid stations include Citizens Bank, Ellis Wood Contracting, Lee Hill & Johnston Insurance, South Auction, and SYNOVUS.
