A mixed doubles pickleball tournament took place on Sunday at Osage Park. The event, called “Dam Slam Pickleball,” was organized by the Peel Compton Foundation. Players competed for medals and prizes, enjoying friendly matches in the outdoors while building community connections through the growing sport.
Community Fun on the Court
The “Dam Slam Pickleball“ tournament gave players a chance to test their skills and enjoy active competition. Many joined not just for prizes, but also for the social fun that comes with playing. One of the participants, Sara Woodman, shared why she loves the sport.
“I moved here last November 2023, and I had some friends that played it, so just kind of get to know people. Picked it up, and then really liked it.” – (Sara Woodman)
Pickleball Grows with Summer Events
This tournament is one of several outdoor events hosted by the Peel Compton Foundation this summer. The group continues to bring active and social events to the Osage Park area for all age groups.
Pickleball, in particular, has become a favorite because it’s easy to learn and gives players a way to stay active and meet others.
Connecting Players Through Sport
Tournaments like this one help new residents, like Sara Woodman, make friends while enjoying a fun and fast-paced sport. The Peel Compton Foundation plans more summer events to keep the community active and engaged. With growing interest in pickleball, Osage Park is becoming a local spot for casual and competitive play alike.
