Peoria Heights’ Sunday Funday Serves Up Pickleball, Music, and Community Spirit

Peoria Heights’ Pickleball Event: Peoria Heights held its first-ever “Sunday Funday” event on a sunny weekend at Pearl Companies’ parking lot, located at 1200 E Glen Ave. The event, organized by BS Marketing, combined pickleball, live music, yard games, and local food vendors to bring the community together for a day of fun and outdoor activity.

The event ran from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and attracted people of all ages and skill levels. It featured a casual pickleball tournament designed to welcome beginners and experienced players alike, with paddles, balls, and coaching available for first-timers. The social setting encouraged everyone to join in, even those who had never played before.

Pickleball and More for Everyone

Pickleball was the main focus, with a tournament set up to include players ranging from total beginners to those more competitive. Beth Stewart, owner of BS Marketing, said, “This event is really about getting people outside, moving, and having fun — whether you’ve ever picked up a paddle or not. Have fun. Get active, get outside. Just move. Move and have fun.”

She also explained how adaptable pickleball is for all ages and skill levels: “It’s so adaptable to anybody. We have kids out here playing. We have people that — there’s a first-timers bracket, so we have a coach that can talk about crash course rules, all the way to competitive. And it’s just something that anybody can do and have fun.”

Entertainment and Food

The event also featured live music and classic yard games, creating a lively and friendly atmosphere. Local food and drink vendors, including Feels Like Ohm and Oliver’s, provided refreshments for attendees. The event welcomed singles and groups, making it a social day for the whole community.

Participation and Future Plans

Entry fees were $50 for those playing pickleball and $10 for a social pass to enjoy the entertainment. With strong attendance and positive feedback, BS Marketing is already considering making Sunday Funday a regular event in Peoria Heights.

If the enthusiasm from this first gathering continues, Sunday Funday may become a popular tradition, adding to the town’s outdoor events.
