Kansas City’s Hottest Pickleball Destination: The former CoCo Key Water Resort near the Truman Sports Complex in Kansas City has been turned into a new pickleball venue called SW19 at the Stadium. The grand opening is set for June 11, with free open play from 5:30 to 10 p.m., along with raffles and prizes.
The space, once filled with pools and water rides, now features colorful pickleball courts, seating areas, and a full restaurant and bar. The goal of the project is to bring sports, fun, and community back to this part of the city.
Pickleball with a Purpose
General Manager Isaiah Peel said the vision for the venue is about more than just the game.
“We wanted to bring life and entertainment back to a place where there was life and entertainment. We wanted to provide the same thing with a pickleball restaurant and all the amenities.” – (Isaiah Peel)
The facility hopes to welcome players of all ages and backgrounds.
“This is all about community, especially, you know, specifically to east Kansas City. We’re all about getting the youth involved, we’re all about providing an opportunity for low-income individuals.” – (Isaiah Peel)
Big Plans and Local Excitement
The new center offers leagues, clinics, and lessons, as well as early play options starting at just $5. Corporate events can also be hosted at the site. Located near the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals stadiums, it aims to be a top local attraction.
“This is going to be a premier destination almost right near the heart of Kansas City, right next to the Chiefs and Royals’ stadium. It’s going to be amazing, it’s going to be fun, and I’m excited to be along for the ride.” – (Isaiah Peel)
Many locals are already impressed. “This facility is amazing,” said Rebecca Earp, Kansas City Corporate Challenge Director of Media and Public Relations.
“We were also here all day yesterday, and our participants love this place, I mean, look at it.” – (Rebecca Earp)
Community and Future Growth
The rise of pickleball after the COVID-19 pandemic has opened new ways to bring people together. This venue adds energy to an unused site and gives more people a chance to play, connect, and stay active in Kansas City.
