Kincaid Lake Pickleball Courts: Kincaid Lake State Park has added new public pickleball courts, thanks to support from the R.C. Durr Foundation and a team of dedicated local leaders. The community is invited to a grand opening event on July 8 at 9:00 AM, which includes a beginner lesson and free paddle sets for early registrants.
A Team Effort to Grow Recreation
The idea to bring pickleball to Kincaid Lake began with Kenna Knight, Family and Consumer Sciences Agent at the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension, and Natasha Trauth from the Three Rivers District Health Department. They worked closely with Meredith Crawford, the Project Coordinator for Kincaid Lake State Park, to make it happen.
Together, they secured support from the R.C. Durr Foundation and turned the idea into a finished court that anyone can now enjoy.
Pickleball for Everyone
Pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports in America. It mixes parts of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. It’s easy to learn and fun for all ages and skill levels. That makes it a great fit for the park’s goal of offering more ways for people to stay active.
The new courts are already open to the public. The official launch on July 8 will feature a “Pickleball 101” session for beginners. The first 20 people to sign up for the event will receive a free paddle set.
Building Community Through Play
The leaders behind the project hope the courts will bring more people together through recreation and wellness. The event on July 8 is open to everyone, and the lesson is meant to help new players feel confident and welcome on the court.
