Pickleball Facility in Midland to Open by 2027 with Outdoor Courts and Youth Programs

Pickleball Facility in Midland: A new tennis and pickleball facility, along with a foundation program, is coming to Midland in 2027. Rac Fit Sports Club, based in Austin, will build the new Rac Fit center at the Preserve. The site will include indoor and outdoor courts and support youth sports and wellness programs across West Texas.

Indoor and Outdoor Courts Planned

The new Rac Fit facility will feature six indoor tennis courts, six outdoor pickleball courts, and four outdoor padel courts. It will be a multi-use center built for both sports and entertainment.

The indoor space will be a key upgrade for the region. “We lost so many days because of wind and everything else. We will have six indoor courts. It will be great for UTPB to have their tennis matches and for the community to have an indoor facility,” said Tim Stallard, Executive Director of Rac Fit Foundation.

Hosting Larger Tournaments

With the indoor courts, Rac Fit will be able to host bigger events and tournaments for young athletes. “Without indoor backup, we won’t be able to have indoor tournaments or anything like that, to have the facility, whether it is in Bush Tennis Center or Midland College. It is going to be a great asset, and to have an indoor court will allow us to host bigger and better tournaments for the kids out here,” said Tim Stallard.

This new space will help attract top events and give local athletes more chances to compete and grow in their sport.

New Foundation Launched

Rac Fit is also starting the Rac Fit Foundation to help underserved youth get involved in tennis and wellness programs. The group aims to remove financial barriers.

“There is not one kid who walked through the doors who did not have the opportunity to play, whether we provided a full scholarship or a partial scholarship. We provided that opportunity, so we are proud of that legacy,” said Tim Stallard.

Continuing a Local Mission

Tim Stallard has worked with the Bush Tennis Center for over a decade and says the new foundation will continue its mission in the Permian Basin.

“Continue to do a lot of the legacy work that we started at the Bush Tennis Center. A lot of the work that Mr. Henry asks us to do to keep kids on the courts and out of the courts is a big mission, and able to fund programs in the Permian Basin,” said Tim Stallard.

The full facility is expected to open in 2027 and will become a major sports venue for Midland and surrounding communities.
