Pickleball Kingdom Tigard: Pickleball Kingdom plans to open its new indoor pickleball center in Tigard, Oregon, this August. The 42,000-square-foot facility will be located at 16800 Southwest 72nd Avenue, in the former Bed Bath & Beyond building. Once open, it will offer free court time to local groups.
Free Court Time to Celebrate Launch
To welcome the community, Pickleball Kingdom will allow local organizations to enjoy free play sessions in the first weeks after opening.
“The first couple of weeks after we receive our certificate of occupancy, we plan to have groups come play on the courts for 2 to 3-hour blocks of time to experience the facility for free,” said a statement from Pickleball Kingdom officials. “Local businesses, churches, pickleball groups, etc. are welcome.”
This special offer is part of the brand’s effort to introduce the space to the local community and build excitement for the growing sport.
What the Facility Will Offer
The Tigard location will include 13 professional indoor courts. Each court will be individually fenced in a 30-foot by 60-foot area. The courts will have outdoor playing surfaces, premium lighting, and video technology for better player experience.
According to a statement from Pickleball Kingdom, “Every court is individually fenced with a 30-foot-by 60-foot area, premium lighting, video technology on all courts, outdoor court surfaces, two event spaces for large groups, viewing platform to hang out and watch the courts, a pro shop and heat/AC.”
Responding to a Growing Demand
Pickleball Kingdom’s expansion in Tigard follows a national trend. More people across the United States are picking up the sport, creating high demand for courts.
In February 2024, Jumbo’s Pickleball opened in Beaverton, Oregon, inside the old Indoor Goals soccer facility at 16340 Northwest Bethany Court.
A 2023 report shared in Business Insider noted that 25,000 more pickleball courts were needed across the U.S. to meet growing interest. The article also mentioned that while the average player is 35 years old, both seniors and Gen Z players are embracing the sport.
What It Means for the Community
Pickleball Kingdom’s opening in Tigard adds a new, high-quality space for players to enjoy. The free play offer gives local businesses, churches, and community groups a chance to connect through pickleball. With court space in high demand, this new location could quickly become a popular hub for the region.
