Serve Up Hope: Pickleball for a Purpose Tournament Rallies Jackson County to Support Domestic Violence Survivors

Pickleball for a Purpose Tournament: AWARE, Inc. will host Pickleball for a Purpose, a two-day community fundraiser at the Hurst Pickleball Complex in Cascades Park, Jackson, Michigan. This pickleball event begins on Friday, July 25, with a youth tournament and continues on Saturday, July 26, with the main adult tournament. All proceeds will support survivors of domestic and sexual violence in Jackson County.

AWARE, Inc. is a nonprofit that provides shelter, counseling, and support to people facing abuse. This tournament helps raise money to continue offering these important services. Players of all ages and skill levels are welcome to join, and fans can also attend to support the cause.

Youth Tournament Highlights

The youth event takes place on Friday, July 25, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. It features a round-robin doubles format for two age groups: 6–12 and 13–17. First-place winners will receive $200, while second-place teams will get $100. Entry costs $20 and includes an event T-shirt and a hotdog.

Players can team up with friends and enjoy fun, prizes, and friendly matches. This is a chance for young athletes to play on the court while helping others off the court.

Main Tournament Details

The adult tournament will be held on Saturday, July 26. Participants can register as individuals or as part of a team. Matches will be grouped based on skill level and, if possible, by age group. Everyone, from beginners to experienced players, is encouraged to take part.

Food trucks, concessions, raffles, and a silent auction will be available throughout the event. There will also be children’s activities for families attending to enjoy.

Community Support and Impact

By playing or attending, participants help fund shelter and advocacy services for survivors. All ticket sales and donations go directly to AWARE, Inc., which has served the Jackson County area for years.

The event is not just about winning on the court — it’s about standing with people who need safety and support. The money raised will help AWARE, Inc. continue its mission of helping survivors heal and rebuild their lives.
