Wentz Run Park Unveils Free Pickleball Courts—Here’s What Residents Can Expect

Wentz Run Park Pickleball Courts Update: Whitpain Township will soon open new pickleball courts at Wentz Run Park, giving local players a dedicated space to enjoy the popular sport. The courts, expected to be ready by early fall, are being built as part of a plan to meet rising demand for pickleball in the area.

New Pickleball Courts Coming to Wentz Run Park

The tennis courts at Wentz Run Park will close and be turned into pickleball courts. This change comes as the tennis courts at Montgomery County Community College, now resurfaced, become available for public use by township residents.

The new pickleball courts will be open to everyone at no cost. They will be accessible to players of all ages and skill levels. Lessons and organized leagues are set to begin in the spring.

Parks and Recreation Director Mike Richino shared why the township made this move.

“We have had strong public demand for pickleball courts in the Township for years,”. “Our partnership with Montgomery County Community College allows us to provide the community with eight newly resurfaced tennis courts, while adding pickleball courts to meet strong and growing demand from our community.”(Mike Richino)

A Response to Community Needs

The decision to add pickleball courts reflects the sport’s rapid growth and local interest. By moving tennis play to the college campus, the township can use the space at Wentz Run Park for pickleball without losing tennis access for residents.

What This Means for Residents

Once open, the pickleball courts will give people a new way to stay active and socialize. Free access and future lessons will help beginners learn the game, while leagues will bring more organized play.
