Carpinteria Middle School Pickleball Courts: The City of Carpinteria has announced that the pickleball and tennis courts at Carpinteria Middle School are now open for free, all-day play throughout the summer. The courts, located at 5351 Carpinteria Avenue, will be available daily until the school year resumes.
The only exception to public access is on Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. During this time, the AgeWell program, managed by the City of Carpinteria, will be using the courts for its senior fitness sessions.

Free and flexible access
According to the City of Carpinteria’s newsletter, “Otherwise, both the tennis and pickleball courts can be accessed by anyone who wants to stretch their legs, work on their serve or try a new sport this summer!”
Residents and visitors are invited to enjoy the space for exercise, practice, or recreational matches, regardless of skill level.
Borrow gear from the library
For those without equipment, the Carpinteria Community Library offers free access to pickleball racquets and balls. The library is located at 5141 Carpinteria Avenue and encourages people to check out equipment to join in on the summer fun.
Encouraging summer recreation
The open courts initiative reflects the city’s goal to promote outdoor activity and fitness among all age groups. With expanded summer access and equipment available through the library, more residents can try pickleball or tennis without cost barriers.
The program aims to keep the courts active and support healthy lifestyles, especially while school facilities are not in regular use.
