New Benches Boost Russell Park Pickleball Court—Thanks to Garden Club’s Generous Gift

Russell Park Pickleball Court: The Jefferson Garden Club recently donated two 8-foot benches to support the new pickleball courts at Russell Park. The benches, which cost $2,204, will help players rest between games. Club members attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, May 22, to celebrate the installation.

Helping the Community Enjoy Pickleball

The benches were placed alongside the courts so players could rotate and rest. The new courts have become a popular gathering spot for the local pickleball community.

“We’re very thankful for these benches and I know the pickleball players were excited to get them in place,” (Nathan Kral)

Fundraisers Make It Possible

The Jefferson Garden Club raises money through holiday Tours of Homes, which happen every two years. These events help fund community projects and support their mission of beautification.

“We are grateful for the support of the tours by home hosts and attendees,”. “It’s a fun day that helps launch the holiday season and really gets people in the holiday spirit.”(Garden Club president Deb Kucerak)

Long-Term Beautification Efforts

The funds raised from the tours also help with other projects. These include the butterflies at Imagination Alley and the upkeep of the Memorial Garden on Lincoln Way. The club also added art panels near the Milwaukee Depot in earlier years.

Their continued efforts show how local groups can play a big part in making public spaces more enjoyable for everyone.
