Robert Farley Pickleball Court Dedication: At Glenwood Park’s “Picnic and Play” event on Sunday, Mercer County officials celebrated new improvements and honored local community leaders. One of the highlights was the dedication of the newly built pickleball courts to Robert Farley, the former president of the Princeton-Mercer County Chamber of Commerce.
The event brought together families and officials to recognize Farley’s contributions and enjoy the upgrades at the park. The dedication was part of a larger effort to restore Glenwood Park with new features like a playground, an amphitheater, and pickleball courts, offering more options for recreation.
Honoring Local Leadership
Mercer County Commissioner Greg Puckett explained the importance of naming the new spaces after community figures. “Any time you have a chance to do something of magnitude, you start looking around for people who have had an impact, and if you look at the three that we dedicated for, each one of them served their community in their own unique way,” said Greg Puckett. “And so, to be able to honor them and have their families here today, it’s really important because it gets everybody understanding that everybody has a legacy, and everybody has an opportunity to do something amazing.”
Future Plans for the Park
Puckett called Glenwood Park the “crown jewel of Mercer County” and said improvements will continue. Future additions include a concert series for the amphitheater and efforts to attract more performers. The new pickleball courts are expected to boost local interest in the sport and provide families and players with a fun, active space to gather.
