Sports Legends and Local Stars Rally for Charity at Champions of Change Pickleball Tournament

A special one-day pickleball tournament called the Champions of Change Pickleball Tournament took place on June 28, 2025, at the Redmond Tennis Club in Redmond, Washington. The event mixed competitive doubles play with a meet-and-greet and a celebrity Pro-Am, all to support the Champions of Change Foundation. While registration was closed before the event, players and fans enjoyed a full day of action, fun, and fundraising.

Competitive Doubles and Cash Prizes

The morning began with gender-neutral doubles matches starting at 9:00 a.m., using DUPR ratings to group players fairly. The event followed a round robin format, and medal rounds wrapped up around lunchtime. Gold, silver, and bronze medals were awarded. A $500 prize pool was divided across divisions, based on how many teams entered.

If enough teams signed up, the 4.0+ division was planned to begin in the early afternoon. Thanks to good weather, organizers expected both divisions to start at 9:00 a.m.

Celebrities Join the Action

At noon, the spotlight shifted to a celebrity meet-and-greet. Big names from the world of sports showed up, including Cliff Avril, Michael Bennett, and Doug Baldwin, all former Super Bowl champions. Local fans and players got the chance to meet them and other Seattle-based athletes and entertainers.

The day continued with a fun celebrity Pro-Am tournament. Donors could pay $1,000 per team of four to play. Those who wanted to pick their favorite celebrity teammate paid $1,500. This event added a unique and exciting twist to the day, letting amateurs team up with well-known pros for a good cause.

Supporting a Great Cause

The entire event was run to support the Champions of Change Foundation, with all entry fees going directly to the organization. Players not only competed for medals and prize money but also helped raise funds for a meaningful cause.

By blending sport, fun, and charity, the Champions of Change Pickleball Tournament gave players and fans a memorable day on and off the court. With strong community support and positive feedback, this event could become a model for similar fundraisers in the future.
