Newcomers Fuel Pickleball Boom: Survey Reveals Surprising Surge Driven by Gifts and Peer Power

Pickleball Flash Beginner Survey Insights: Pickleball Flash LLC has released new survey results showing that new and beginner players are leading the growth of pickleball in the United States. The study found that 70% of adults aged 18 to 65 are either learning or interested in learning the sport, and only 18% said they had no interest. The findings suggest that pickleball’s future depends on these first-time players who are ready to take up the game.

Interest in Pickleball Keeps Climbing

The national survey shows a strong interest in the sport, especially among those new to it. Just 12% of those surveyed called themselves avid players, while the rest were either beginners or curious. Ellen Golden, co-founder of Pickleball Flash LLC, explained that the game’s success depends on welcoming new players.

“Every paddle sold, every club membership started, every apparel brand worn—these all begin with someone deciding to give pickleball a try,”. “To the extent the industry embraces the newcomer, pickleball will have a bright and enduring future.”(Ellen Golden)

Holiday Gift Trends Offer Clues

The survey also asked about the 2025 holiday season. Thirty-nine percent of people said it’s “somewhat likely” someone on their gift list will want to try pickleball, while 34% said it’s “very likely.” Many respondents named several friends or family members who are ready to begin.

  • 30% said one to two people

  • 32% named three to four people

  • Over 20% named five or more

These numbers show that holiday gifts could lead to a big jump in new pickleball players.

Current Players Help the Sport Grow

People already playing pickleball are spreading the word. Sixty-three percent said they got others to try it in the last year. More than one-third said they introduced at least three new players.

“That’s a boatload of new players,”. “Whether it’s self-identifying interest in learning the sport, holiday gift planning, or organic peer recruitment, the data supports an undeniable surge in growth.”(Ellen Golden)

Making It Easy for New Players

To help beginners, Pickleball Flash LLC has created a product called Pickleball In A Flash. It’s a set of 60 cards that teach the rules, scoring, tips, and court behavior. It’s priced under $30 and is aimed at new players and gift shoppers.

“This is the on-ramp the sport has been missing,”. “We’re not a paddle or a club. We’re the reason people need those things—because we make the first step easy, clear, and confidence-building.”(Ellen Golden)

“YouTube videos can be great, “but for true beginners, sorting through them can be overwhelming—and they’re definitely not giftable.”(Ellen Golden)

Next Steps for the Sport

Pickleball Flash LLC is based in Atlanta and is focused on helping new players start confidently and quickly. Their product is now helping expand the sport’s reach by giving people a fun and simple way to get started. As more people pick up a paddle for the first time, the sport is set to keep growing fast.
