National Mall of Pickleball 2025: The National Mall of Pickleball will return to Washington, D.C., from September 19 to 21, offering players a chance to compete on temporary courts near the Washington Monument and Capitol. Eight lucky teams will win an all-expenses-paid trip by entering a new writing contest about how pickleball changed their lives.
The event is hosted by The Trust for the National Mall, Humana, and the Humana Foundation. It’s free and open to the public. The tournament will take place at 12th Street NW, where twelve pickleball courts will be set up. This marks the event’s third year, and interest is expected to be high again.
Writing Contest for a Spot on Center Court
To earn a spot in the Ultimate Pickleball Duo Tournament, players must submit a story that explains how pickleball made a difference in their life. According to the contest guidelines:
“Share a story where pickleball not only challenged your opponent across the court but also enriched your personal growth, relationships, or well-being. Whether it’s through newfound friendships, enhanced physical fitness, or mental resilience, explain how the game has shaped your life story.”
Eight teams from across the U.S. will be selected as winners. Each team will receive a paid trip to Washington, D.C., and the chance to play on center court during the event.
Submissions are open now and will be accepted until August 15. Winners will be announced during the first week of September.
More Than Just a Tournament
Even if teams are not selected, there are still many chances to enjoy the event. Visitors can take part in clinics led by pickleball pros, attend lessons, or sign up for walk-on games. There will also be options for reserving court time ahead of the event.
Previous editions of the National Mall of Pickleball have seen court slots fill up quickly. This year’s event hopes to bring even more attention to pickleball and the people who play it.
