Baton Rouge Pickleball Players Flock Indoors as Sizzling Heat Fuels Indoor Court Craze

Baton Rouge Indoor Pickleball Boom: As summer temperatures rise, pickleball players in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, are heading indoors to beat the heat. The growth of indoor pickleball courts, like those at Stacks Pickleball and Court to Table, is helping players enjoy the game in air-conditioned comfort despite the region’s intense humidity.

Indoor Courts Offer Relief

Bee Vo, co-owner of Stacks Pickleball, said the hot weather often kept her and other players from enjoying the game outdoors. To fix that, her team focused on climate control.
“The important thing about this facility is that we made it all climate-controlled,” said Bee Vo. “Right before the summer, we had the ceilings redone and insulated and everything to keep it nice and cool.”

Stacks Pickleball is one of the few local places offering indoor courts with air conditioning, which makes play more comfortable and safer, especially during peak summer.

New Venues Create New Experiences

Another indoor pickleball location, Court to Table, is set to open on Sunday. Located off Burbank Drive, it is led by well-known locals and brings something different to the pickleball scene—a court inside a sports bar.

“This is the first pickleball court in a sports bar that I know of, and it’s right here in Baton Rouge, Louisiana,” said managing partner Destin Thibodeaux.

Court to Table features both indoor and outdoor courts. Thibodeaux explained, “So, the section that you’re in right now, we went ahead, and we conditioned it. You’ve got pickleball in here, you’ve got pickleball out there.”

Pickleball Popularity Continues to Rise

The demand for places to play pickleball has grown fast. According to the Association of Pickleball Professionals, more than 50 million adults in the United States have tried pickleball. That’s over 20% of Americans ages 18 and older.

“So, it’s a really strong community,” said Bee Vo. “It’s so easy to get into that everyone just enjoys being with each other and playing the game.”

Outdoor Courts Still Going Strong

Despite the indoor boom, not everyone is worried about competition. Robert Kelly, a pickleball instructor with BREC, believes these new venues will support the sport’s continued growth.

He is confident that outdoor courts will remain popular, and he welcomes more people joining the pickleball community in Baton Rouge.

News in Brief: Baton Rouge Indoor Pickleball Boom

Indoor pickleball is gaining popularity in Baton Rouge as high temperatures drive players inside. Places like Stacks Pickleball and the soon-to-open Court to Table offer climate-controlled play, helping more people enjoy the sport year-round. Local leaders believe these venues will only strengthen the pickleball community.
