Coleman Memorial Park Unveils First-Ever Pickleball Tournament—Is Lebanon Ready for the Hottest New Sport?

Coleman Memorial Park Pickleball Tournament: A new pickleball tournament is coming to Coleman Memorial Park on Saturday, August 30, 2025. The event will be held at the park’s recently opened courts at 1400 West Maple Street in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. The tournament includes two divisions: one for novice and intermediate players and one for advanced players.

Check-in begins at 8:00 a.m., and games start at 9:00 a.m. Each team must pay $80 to enter. Justin Tice, who helped advise the park trustees, said they are currently seeking both sponsors and participants. More information is available on the Coleman Memorial Park website.

How the Tournament Works

The tournament will feature two round-robin pools for each division. Each pool will include eight teams, for a total of 16 teams per tournament. Every game will be played to 11 points and must be won by two points.

The teams’ win records and point differences will be used to decide the playoff seedings. The top teams from each pool will move on to the playoff brackets to compete for the championship.

A Growing Sport with Local Excitement

The tournament follows the recent opening of the park’s four new pickleball courts, which were built to meet growing community demand. Justin Tice explained why the sport is taking off across all ages and skill levels.

“It is a worldwide sport that is growing by the millions, to the point that by 2030 it’s expected to be one of the biggest sports in the sporting industry,” said Tice. “I think, first and foremost, being able to bring generations together, even potentially at the same skill level. Whether you’re just getting started or an expert, it’s easy to figure out.”

What This Means for the Community

The tournament is the first major event to be held on the new courts and marks an important step in expanding organized pickleball in Lebanon. Players now have a dedicated space to compete locally rather than travel far or use temporary setups.

With courts now available, and a tournament set to bring players together, Coleman Memorial Park is becoming a key location for pickleball in the area.
