Marshfield Pickleball Tournament Smashes Expectations, Raises $4,500 for Local Pet Shelter

Marshfield Area Pickleball Charity Event: The Marshfield Area Pickleball group hosted the “Play Pickleball – Feed a Pet” tournament on June 6 and 7, 2025, raising $4,500 for the Marshfield Area Pet Shelter. Held at the new Move Forward Pickleball Complex in Marshfield, Wisconsin, the event drew 95 teams from across the state and beyond.

Growing Tournament Helps Local Pets

Organized by Juline Heiting, the tournament welcomed teams from all over Wisconsin and even from California. Originally planned for 50 teams, the tournament nearly doubled in size due to strong interest. The two-day event included men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles, divided into 18 different brackets by age and skill.

The Move Forward Pickleball Complex hosted its first tournament, and due to its success, organizers are planning another in 2026. Participants enjoyed a welcoming environment, thanks to support from the Marshfield Area Pickleball group, local businesses, and Marshfield Area Pet Shelter, which provided raffle prizes and giveaways.

Donation Supports MAPS Mission

Karen Rau, Executive Director of Marshfield Area Pet Shelter, shared her appreciation for the support.

We want to express our deepest gratitude to the Pickleball group for hosting this event and generously donating the proceeds toward helping homeless animals,” said Karen Rau. “When community members take the initiative to raise funds for us, it significantly lightens our load. It means less money we need to fundraise for directly, allowing us to focus more on caring for animals in need. As a nonprofit, we rely on everyone in our community so we can continue our lifesaving work serving pets who depend on us.”

The donation will help the shelter continue its work caring for stray, abandoned, and lost animals.

Looking Ahead

The success of this event shows how sports and community efforts can make a big difference. With strong support from locals, the tournament is expected to return in 2026. The funds raised will allow the Marshfield Area Pet Shelter to continue its important work in the region.
