Serve, Support, Send Kids to Camp: Young Life Pickleball Tournament Brings Manistee Together for a Cause

Young Life Pickleball Tournament Fundraiser: Young Life of Manistee County will host a pickleball tournament on July 12 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Manistee Township pickleball courts. The event costs $35 per player, and all proceeds will help send local middle and high school students to Young Life Camp at Timber Wolf Lake.

Tournament for a Cause

The tournament welcomes players of all skill levels, from beginners to experts. Brackets will be available for each level. Food and drinks will be served, and Young Life student volunteers will help manage the event. The goal is to raise money for camp while bringing the community together.

Luke Trombley, area director of Young Life, said, “The pickleball tournament will bring together adults from across the community to play, cheer, and support kids heading to one of the most meaningful experiences of their lives. Even if you don’t want to play, we invite you to come and see God’s work in these young kids.”

Helping Students Attend Camp

The cost to attend Young Life Camp is $565 per student. The funds raised from the tournament will help cover these costs, making it possible for more students to attend.

Young Life has been active in Manistee since 2021 and expanded to Onekama in January 2024. The group offers students a place to grow, have fun, and explore faith in a supportive setting.

Ongoing Programs for Local Youth

In addition to summer events, Young Life Wyldlife Club meets every Monday night during the school year. The Campaigners Bible Study takes place on Thursdays from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Armory Youth Project.

Luke Trombley shared, “Young Life Club is a safe place to engage with kids, have some fun, and learn about how Jesus loves you.”
