Houlton Pickleball Court Construction Update: New pickleball courts are still planned for the town of Houlton, and work is moving ahead even though there is no final date yet. The Houlton Recreation Department shared that the project should be ready by the end of summer.
Construction Moving Forward
In April 2024, the Houlton Recreation Department announced plans to build four new pickleball courts. This project also includes improvements to the town’s basketball and tennis courts.
On April 24, 2025, the department posted a message on Facebook sharing their excitement and giving an estimated finish date from late May to early June.
J. McLaughlin Construction handled the first phase and also donated the ground work. Steelstone Industries, located in Houlton, will pour the concrete needed to build the courts.
Delays and Progress
Steelstone Industries is currently busy with other state projects. Because of this, the work on the pickleball courts has been delayed.
Still, the Houlton Recreation Department expects the courts to be done sometime this summer. No new completion date has been announced yet.
Community Impact
Once finished, the four new courts will give local players a fresh place to enjoy pickleball. The updates to other sports areas will also improve recreation options in the town.
The project is possible thanks to a generous donation, showing strong community support for better sports facilities.
