Master’s University Pickleball Expansion: The Master’s University in Placerita Canyon has announced plans to add more pickleball courts to its campus. The project will build on the popularity of the sport and give students more chances to stay active. The plans were recently submitted to Santa Clarita City Hall as part of the university’s growth efforts ahead of its 100-year anniversary in 2027.
Plans for New Courts
According to the entitlement application, “The Master’s University would like to build two additional pickleball and one half basketball court next to the existing pickleball complex.” The school shared that the extra courts will help meet demand as the student population increases and intramural activities grow.
Four pickleball courts were opened in August, based on posts shared on the school’s Facebook page. This expansion shows how quickly the sport has spread across campus.
Pickleball’s Growing Popularity
The Master’s University is following a national trend of more people playing pickleball. The USA Pickleball website shared that the “Pickleheads” database now tracks 68,458 courts nationwide. In 2024 alone, 18,455 new courts were built. Over the past three years, participation in pickleball has jumped by 300%.
