Houston’s Drop Shots HTX Serves Up Glow-in-the-Dark Pickleball, Craft Cocktails, and Unbeatable Community Fun

Drop Shots HTX pickleball Bar: Drop Shots HTX has opened at the Houston Farmers Market, bringing pickleball, craft drinks, and family fun to the Heights. Founded by Roveen Abante, Chase Lovullo, and Shawn Outlaw, this new pickleball bar offers six indoor courts, glow-in-the-dark games, and space for events.

Affordable Fun for All Ages

Shawn Outlaw shared how pickleball quickly became a family favorite.

“I actually started playing several years ago at my mom’s prompting. Both of us had tennis backgrounds. I stepped on a court for the first time with my dad and my son—three generations playing the same game together. There aren’t many sports that allow for that.”

Outlaw explained that the sport does not require expensive equipment or fees.

“I started with a $20 paddle. At Drop Shots, our courts rent for $20 during the day. If you have four people playing, that’s only five bucks a person. There’s not a lot you can do in Houston for five dollars.”

Unique Features and Events

Drop Shots HTX offers more than just pickleball. Their bar uses fresh juices during the day and serves craft cocktails at night. Drinks have playful names like The Dinker Bell and The Lob Father.

The venue also hosts glow-in-the-dark pickleball on Friday nights, called Friday Night Lights. Outlaw said, “It’s perfect for something a little different on a Friday night.” Players must reserve these special courts in advance.

A Place for the Community

Drop Shots HTX includes a covered patio, upstairs lounge, and event space. Outlaw said the team enjoys working with others to host all kinds of gatherings.

“We’ve hosted fashion shows, concerts, corporate events, crawfish boils, pet adoptions, reunions, you name it. We’re willing to work with the community to bring people together for food, drinks, and good times,”

Drop Shots HTX aims to be a place where anyone can enjoy pickleball, connect with friends, and try something new in the Heights neighborhood.
