Fitlife Sportsplex Unveils Four New Pickleball Courts—Is McComb Ready for the Craze?

Fitlife Sportsplex Pickleball Expansion: Fitlife Sportsplex in McComb has announced plans to build four new pickleball courts to meet the growing demand for the sport. The courts will be open daily from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., following the same schedule as the facility’s tennis courts.

Plans to Build Four Courts

Pickleball has become very popular across the country, and Fitlife Sportsplex wants to give players more space to play. The new courts will allow people to enjoy the game in a modern setting.

Jerry Ivey, Director of Fitlife Sportsplex, said,

“I really expect them [the courts] to be popular, because I was waiting for about 2-3 years to see if the sport would just be a fad, but we decided now that it’s probably here to stay.”

He also shared that he is ready to try the sport himself.

“I played tennis my whole life and have never played pickleball, and so now I think I’m ready to try it.”

How Reservations Will Work

Players will be able to reserve time on the courts. Tennis pro Dean Clower and his wife Robin Clower will handle all reservations. Because pickleball matches are fast, reservations will probably be set in 30-minute time slots.

Jerry Ivey explained,

“Doing reservations will be tricky at times. But I’ve heard that a lot of facilities just let people come wait for courts, and some people will just end up rotating and doing tag-teams.”

Future Events and Popularity

Although there is no set date yet for when the courts will be finished, Jerry Ivey expects them to be busy as soon as they open. He and Dean Clower are even thinking about hosting an opening tournament once construction is complete.

The new courts show how pickleball is becoming a lasting part of sports life rather than a passing trend.
