Seaside Heights Pickleball Court Project: Seaside Heights will soon bring four new pickleball courts to the borough. Officials announced Monday that bids are now being accepted to build the courts on Bay Boulevard next to Hugh J. Boyd Elementary School. The new courts will be purpose-built and not converted from tennis courts.
Plans for New Pickleball Courts
The area where the pickleball courts will be added has always been used for basketball. While the borough first thought about removing basketball courts, leaders decided to keep one basketball court and build four dedicated pickleball courts.
The project will be partly funded by a $68,000 grant Seaside Heights received last year. The borough had asked for $147,000, so this grant will help lower the total cost.
Details of Construction Work
Plans call for removing four old basketball hoops and their concrete bases. Workers will then set up four new pickleball nets with posts. The site will be milled and resurfaced with a 3-inch overlay. The entire 1,900 square yard area will be painted and lined for the new courts.
Timeline and Bidding Process
Contractors must also submit extra bids to replace 525 feet of chain link fencing and install two new fence gates. Proposals will be opened on July 15, 2025. If a bid is approved within budget, Seaside Heights will likely award the contract at the next council meeting. After the start date is set, the builder will have 45 days to finish the job.
