Cedar Stone Park Unveils State-of-the-Art Pickleball Courts, Igniting Smyrna’s Recreation Scene

Cedar Stone Park Pickleball Courts Grand Opening: Cedar Stone Park in Smyrna celebrated the grand opening of six new tennis courts and six new pickleball courts on July 1. Local officials and community members gathered for the event, marking another step toward making the park a top spot for recreation.

Planning for the courts began in 2021. Smyrna Director of Parks Mike Moss shared that the project was always part of the park’s master plan. The town received a $625,000 grant from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation to help fund the project. The new courts also feature LED lighting for evening play.

Community Impact and Leadership Support

Smyrna Town Manager Dave Santucci said,

“This project represents more than pavement and netting. It brings the community together. This park is already a destination park. We are looking forward to making more progress.”

Smyrna Mayor Mary Esther Reed also spoke about how the courts will benefit residents.

“Today is an exciting day here at Cedar Stone Park, the opening of our tennis and pickleball courts. This continues to add to the quality-of-life opportunities here for the citizens of the Town of Smyrna. One of the priorities for the town council is to provide all ages with healthy, family friendly opportunities.”(Smyrna Mayor)

Future Plans for Cedar Stone Park

Future improvements to the park at 3639 Morton Lane will include turf baseball and softball fields, new concession stands, and better parking areas.

Mike Moss said teamwork was key to completing the courts. “The main thing is this is always a team effort. We are supported from the top down by the town. Getting a grant was really good. We are here to serve the town and this is a way to serve that part of the town.”(Smyrna Mayor)

A Step Toward a Healthier Community

With the new courts ready for use, Cedar Stone Park is expected to draw more visitors and provide healthy activities for people of all ages. Town leaders hope these upgrades will encourage families to spend more time outdoors and stay active.
