$10 Million Shreveport Pickleball Park Could Transform Local Sports—Will It Get the Green Light?

Shreveport Pickleball Park Proposal: Leaders in Caddo Parish are thinking about building a $10 million pickleball park in southeast Shreveport. The Caddo Parish Pickleball Park would sit next to the Lash Family YMCA on East Flournoy Lucas Road. If approved, construction would start in 2026, with the grand opening in 2027.

The project comes as pickleball keeps growing fast. There are now about 48.3 million pickleball players in the United States, and the sport has grown by more than 200% in the last three years.

What Will the Park Include?

The plan calls for 19 lighted pickleball courts, with shade over 8 courts. One special championship court would have seats for 1,000 people. A 6,000-square-foot clubhouse would hold two indoor courts.

Other features include picnic areas, two pavilions, 500 parking spots, and a walking and jogging trail.

How Will It Be Paid For?

The Parish of Caddo will pay for the entire project using revenue bonds. These are funds borrowed by the parish that will be paid back over time.

Who Plays Pickleball?

While some think pickleball is only for older adults, the biggest group of players is between 25 and 34 years old. This mix of ages makes the sport popular with many families.

Economic Benefits and Next Steps

Regional tournaments with about 1,000 players could bring in more than $1.2 million in spending on hotels, food, and entertainment. Leaders hope the park will be a big draw for Shreveport and help the local economy grow.

The Caddo Parish Commission could take a final vote on the project at the Thursday meeting. But if there are still questions from community members, the vote could be delayed by two weeks.

The pickleball complex could be finished and open to the public by 2027.

Caddo Parish may build a $10 million pickleball park in Shreveport by 2027. Plans include 19 courts, a clubhouse, and a championship court. Revenue bonds will fund the project. A final vote is planned soon. Leaders expect big economic benefits from tournaments and visitors.
