National Mall Pickleball Tournament: Pickleball players have a special chance to play on the National Mall in Washington, DC. The National Mall of Pickleball event will take place from September 19 to September 21. This event sets up 11 courts near the Smithsonian Metro Station at 12th Street NW. It is led by the Trust for the National Mall, Humana, and the Humana Foundation.
A Celebration of Community and Fun
This year marks the third time the event has been held. The theme is “Moves that Serve.” It aims to show that pickleball is a friendly, welcoming game for everyone. In the past, the courts were at the JFK Hockey Fields. This year, they have moved to a more central area to help more people join in.
Players and visitors can take lessons, join clinics with professional players, watch scheduled matches, and enjoy free play time on the courts. The organizers want everyone to feel included and excited about the sport.
Catherine Townsend, president and CEO of the Trust for the National Mall, said, “As America’s Front Yard and most iconic public space, the National Mall inspires community and connection, and this unique event draws thousands together, fostering health, wellness, and friendship.”
How to Compete on Center Court
The event will also host the Ultimate Duo Tournament. The Trust is looking for pairs of players who love pickleball and value the friendships it brings. To join, teams must send in a story about how pickleball has played a role in their lives. Entries must be submitted by August 15.
Eight duos will be picked to win an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, DC. These winners will get to play on the main court during the event. The selected teams will be announced in the first week of September.

The National Mall of Pickleball is expected to draw many visitors and players. It will help grow pickleball’s popularity and show how the sport builds stronger communities. The event also highlights that the National Mall is not just for sightseeing but also for active, healthy fun.
