Jenison Public Schools Pickleball Court Expansion: Jenison Public Schools is building new tennis and pickleball courts near Jenison High School, set to open this fall. The courts are part of a larger plan funded by a 25-year, $117 million bond passed in May 2024. The bond also includes a new upper elementary school.
The school district began construction earlier this year. The first part of the project features 16 tennis courts, with eight courts also marked for pickleball. These will be open for school use and public play. All courts will have lights to allow games during the evening.
Bigger Plans for the Future
The bond continues the same tax rate from the previous bond. The main goal is to build a new 168,000-square-foot upper elementary school. This building will serve all fifth and sixth-grade students in the district. It is expected to open in fall 2029.
“We’re going to have a state of the art 168,000 square foot upper elementary building that will house all of the fifth and sixth graders throughout the district together on our main campus which will open up space in our other elementaries for our grades TK through 4,”
said Jenison Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Brandon Graham.
The Jenison district currently serves over 5,000 students. Dr. Brandon Graham said the district is growing and he expects more growth in the coming years.
Support from the Community
Dr. Brandon Graham praised the local support.
“The Jenison community has been amazing over the years and has seen the value in having an excellent school system,”.(Dr. Brandon Graham)
He also shared his excitement for the new sports courts.
“I’m really excited about this for our kids. Our kids deserve great facilities, and I’m proud that our community has delivered that for them,”.(Dr. Brandon Graham)
In addition to the new school and courts, the bond includes a new transportation hub for buses and school vehicles.
