Record-Breaking River City Pickleball Classic Unites Players From Six States and Mexico in Mason City

A record 270 pickleball players from six states and Mexico will take part in the Sixth Annual River City Pickleball Classic, set for July 11–13 at the East Park Pickleball Courts in Mason City, Iowa. Mayor Bill Schickel will open the event on July 11 at 8:45 a.m., officially declaring the three-day event as “River City Pickleball Classic Days.”

Mayor’s Proclamation Launches the Event

Mayor Bill Schickel will present the proclamation to Mandi Pralle, president of Mason City Pickleball, at the opening ceremony. The mayor expressed excitement about the event’s growth and the welcoming spirit of Mason City.

“We are thrilled to welcome a record number of players from six states and Mexico to Mason City,” (Bill Schickel).

He spoke about the strong friendships and sense of fun the game creates.

An Invitation to the Community

Mayor Bill Schickel encouraged residents to take part in the celebration and show support for the visitors.

“I invite the entire community to join us in welcoming our visitors. We invite our guests to discover a city that offers more amenities at a lower cost of living than any comparable city in the nation—a city where pickleball and life unfold in ways simply unheard of.”(Bill Schickel)

Mayor Bill Schickel also spoke about the city’s reputation as the “Outdoor Recreation Capital of the Midwest.” He shared that Mason City sees $100 million in tourism spending each year, helped by events like this one.
