Hudson Valley Pickleball Center: Hudson Valley Pickleball and Golf Center in Poughkeepsie is hosting a unique dating event called Speed Dinking on Saturday, July 19. The event invites singles to meet and connect while playing short rounds of pickleball at the indoor courts located in the South Hills Plaza.
A New Spin on Dating
Speed Dinking blends speed dating with pickleball. Participants rotate partners every five minutes, offering a fun way to meet others who enjoy the game. Two sessions will take place: one for singles ages 40 and older from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and another for ages 23 to 39 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The cost is $30 for non-members and $20 for members. Each registration includes one free drink.
What Is Dinking?
In pickleball, a “dink” is a soft, controlled shot that lands in the non-volley zone, also called the kitchen. It’s a key move that allows for strategic play, especially during social and beginner-friendly games like this one.
The event aims to help local singles form connections in a relaxed, active setting.
More Events Coming to the Center
Hudson Valley Pickleball and Golf Center opened in February 2025 inside the former Christmas Tree Shop. The facility has quickly become a popular destination for indoor pickleball and golf.
In addition to Speed Dinking, the venue will host its Summer Classic tournament from August 1 to August 3. Players of all levels can take part in upcoming events throughout the year.
The center also features a golf simulator for daily use and competitive play, making it a year-round hub for both sports lovers and social events.
