Dunn Stadium Unveils 12 New Pickleball Courts—No Reservations, Just Play

Dunn Stadium Pickleball Court Opening: Bartholomew County has officially opened a new public pickleball facility at Dunn Stadium near the Bartholomew County 4-H Fairgrounds off County Road 200S. The 12-court complex, built by Case Construction of Edinburgh, is now available for open play with no need to reserve court time.

A New Space for a Growing Sport

The Bartholomew County Commissioners approved plans for the complex in early July 2024, setting a $573,000 budget for construction. The goal was to support the area’s fast-growing pickleball community and offer public courts on the west side of Columbus and Bartholomew County.

Work began last year, but the project was delayed due to drainage issues. The city and county worked together with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management to resolve those concerns. These changes increased the project cost by $23,000.

Free Courts, No Reservations Needed

Now completed, the courts are open to all. No scheduling or reservations are required. This makes it easy for players of all levels to join in and enjoy the sport at any time.

The county has also said that it is open to adding more sports facilities in the future and has space available in the park system to support those additions.

An Investment in Community Recreation

Bartholomew County’s investment in the pickleball complex shows its focus on expanding public recreation opportunities. By responding to the needs of pickleball players, the county has created a high-quality facility for tournaments, casual games, and growing community engagement.
