Anheuser-Busch Sports Park Pickleball Courts: Columbus, Ohio, has added four new outdoor pickleball courts at Anheuser-Busch Sports Park, officially opening them with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 10. These courts offer lighting for evening play, shaded seating areas, and full ADA accessibility, making it easy for everyone to enjoy the game.
New Courts Welcome All
Located off Olentangy River Road on the city’s northwest side, the new courts are the second outdoor public courts in Columbus, following the ones at Warner Woods Park. The city has plans to add even more at Krumm Park and McCoy Park.
The courts allow play until 11 p.m. and are designed for comfort with shaded pavilions. The easy access and modern features make the area great for both casual games and friendly competitions.
Part of a Bigger Plan
The $850,000 project was funded by the city’s Capital Budget and is part of Columbus’ Community Sports Park initiative. The goal is to upgrade sports spaces across the city and encourage residents to stay active and connected.
“We’re committed to investing in neighborhoods and creating vibrant, connected communities. These new pickleball courts at Busch Park are part of that investment—providing free, accessible spaces where residents can come together, stay active and enjoy their city.”(ayor Andrew Ginther)
Pickleball’s Popularity Rises
Pickleball is now the fastest-growing sport in the United States. Local leaders say the new courts reflect this rising interest and meet the need for more public facilities.
“Pickleball is a growing sport for people of all ages, and we’re proud to create more opportunities for residents to play, connect and thrive,”
said Bernita Reese, director of the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department.
Community and Connection
The courts are more than just a place to play. They help bring people together, encourage exercise, and give neighbors a fun way to interact. The city’s investment shows a clear focus on healthy lifestyles and community growth.
More courts and sports upgrades are on the way as Columbus continues improving parks and recreational spaces for everyone.
