Dill Dinkers Madison Indoor Pickleball Facility: A brand-new indoor pickleball facility is opening soon in Madison, Wisconsin, as demand for the sport continues to surge. Dill Dinkers Madison will be the city’s first dedicated indoor facility with organized programs, responding to a fast-growing local and national pickleball craze.
Pickleball’s Popularity Soars in Madison
Pickleball is now the fastest-growing sport in the United States, and Madison is fully joining the trend. According to Kevin McPherson, president of the Capital Area Pickleball Association, the sport is not only growing fast—it’s also helping people connect.
“The best part about pickleball for me is that you get 100 or more acquaintances that become friends if you start playing regularly,”. “It’s often referred to as an addiction once you get going. I play four times a week and I have for the past 6 years.”(Kevin McPherson)
Nearly 19% of Americans have played pickleball in the past year, and players in Madison are finding it hard to book indoor court time—especially during winter.
Current Demand Outpaces Supply
Kevin McPherson plays at Hitters SportsPlex in Middleton, which is often full.
“I know here at Hitters they were 98% full for six months over the winter months and that’s with quite a waiting list,” (Kevin McPherson).
That demand has opened the door for new options like Dill Dinkers Madison.
Dill Dinkers Madison Prepares to Open
Damon Colella and his business partner are launching the Dill Dinkers indoor facility by the end of the month. It’s their first pickleball business and comes after they both left their previous jobs to pursue the venture full-time.
“We were shocked to see how big the scene is. There was one statistic online that says we are 6th in the entire country for how big the scene is,”
said Damon Colella, co-owner of Dill Dinkers Madison.
“We both quit our jobs, he quit his a year ago and I quit mine about 4–5 weeks ago,”. “We are really hoping the sky is the limit and we will see where this goes.”(Damon Colella)
A Community Ready to Play
The announcement has created excitement in Madison’s pickleball community.
“Everyone is really excited about having our first dedicated pickleball indoor facility coming to town,”(Kevin McPherson).
